Why No New Posts II
Jun 02, 2006 at 07:04 PM
Well, a few days ago, I posted a few meandering words as to why I had not written any new entries here at Presto Dog for a few days (You can see the post in question by clicking HERE.)

Turns out obligations at my job sort of precluded me (a.k.a., ate up every free moment I could possibly enjoy) from sittin' at the keyboard and banging out the kind of stuff that might entice my readers to return for yet another gander at my ramblings. I now have another reason why I probably won't post next week, and oddly enough it's related to the ol' job once again...

Seems that I must appear in court for my employer in a certain matter. Can't go into details due to sensitivity, but suffice it to say that I gotta remain focused, read up on fact I'll be questioned on & be cognizant of my civil responsibility.

What's this mean (besides the fact that additional postings here may be delayed for a bit)? Simply that besides loving dogs & just about all other living things, I love my country, too. Although I'm appearing in a small, categorized as insignificant trial as opposed to OJ's debacle, such is the fabric the United States is built upon. It's not necessarily the grandiose, spectacular cases that grab the headlines, the media circuses that have TV satellite trucks parked in all available spots that weave the legal tapestry on which our great country flexes its legal muscles.

Over the years, the fabric of our Constitution has been stretched. Note the word is s..t..r..e..t..c..h..e..d, not torn. You see, each time a situation is brought before a judge & jury, each time a decision is made, case law is developed upon which future decisions are based. So, look back a hundred years or so & you'll see that decisions made then are the basis on which decisions are based today. So you might not think that an inconsequential case is all that important, or that it's O.K. to present some lame excuse to the court so that you don't have to show up as a potential juror. But, WE THE PEOPLE are the ones who make our system of jurisprudence a reality.

God bless America.
