Play Time
Mar 14, 2006 at 08:01 PM

For us, the "higher" life form on the planet, it can take the form of jogging, aerobics, basketball, working out at the gym or a myriad of other activities. We use these various forms of excersize to let off steam, to keep ourselves headed in the right direction, to recharge our batteries so to speak.

Our furry friends need their play time, too. Sure, they're here for our enjoyment and are a blast to have around, but we owe it to them to be certain they get the exersize they need, also. Our efforts in this regard will help them to realize a longer, healthier life span. And, a pleasant side effect could be that our health will improve as we put our pups through their paces!

Here are some ways to ensure you dog can stay active and have fun at the same time:

  • have a veterenarian give your dog a check up to make sure he/she can start on an exercize program. You want to be certain there's nothing medically wrong with your pal before you begin your program

  • Have a set regimin or plan you're going to follow. This might mean sitting down prior to your activities and devising a a route you'll take on your walk

  • assemble items you might need for your planned activities-balls, sticks, toys, etc. You might want to consider obtaining some agility equipment (click here to view a representative assortment) as it's fun and can provide a strenuous activity session for both you and your dog

One activity you can enjoy with your dog is to try your hand (or paw) at the sport of agility. This is the sport you sometimes see on TV where you see dogs competing against one another as they jump over hurdles, weave through poles, run over raised walks, etc. You can click here to get a little more information about this sport.

Is your interest in this great sport piqued at all? Do you think your dog might want to follow your lead and take an interest in agility? Then check out some well-constructed, quality pieces of agility equipment by clicking here. Presto Dog offers these fine items at a reasonable cost to those folks interested in javing fun with their dogs.
