After not having written a darn thing on this site for about two or three weeks, I'm actually going to give you back-to-back posts here at Presto Dog!
I finished putting up another medicine cabinet in our master bath last night, then feeling a bit ambitious turned my attention to towel racks, too. Two of 'em are up, adorned by big, thirsty towels and don't look bad, if I must say so myself. So, what's this drivel have to do with the Presto Dog web site, a place that alleges itself to be for and about our four-legged friend, the dog? Not much, except that when I run out of gas from doing those odd jobs around the house, there just ain't too much left in the tank to draw upon when it's time to post something here!
Anyway, our little nearly five month old Sheltie, Maggie, has been feeling just a wee bit ill the past day or so. She's asking us to take her out frequently; most recently, she was whining at about 4:10 a.m. this morning and since I was the one who heard it, I got up & took her out. That's not to say or imply that my bride heard the dog and ignored her, knowing I just might get up to do the chore! Anyway, I put a pair of shorts and my sandals on (no shirt, mind you!), took the pup out and was quite surprised to find the temperature must have only been about 55 degrees or so with a gusty wind. I was freezing!
The pup did her business but about an hour or so later started whining again...(please click on the "Read more" line below to see the rest of this post)
This time my bride got up to answer the call, thank goodness, and I thought I'd be able to catch a couple of more winks of sleep! But, once she got out of bed, our other three Shelties (Lyric, Lily and Declan) and our big Collie (Dougie) decided it was breakfast time and all bets were off...they started barking excitedly and we had to all get up to start our day.
One of the big chores I have yet to accomplish is constructing a fence around at least some part of our property so I can let the pack out to run & play around the yard, similar to the arrangement we had in our former home. I'm concerned that the ground has a veritable plethora of rocks, which in turn could make trying to dig holes for fence posts a challenge, to put it mildly. I discovered this when we tried to dig a hole for one of those aluminum clothes dryers. Even the pick ax I went out and bought for this specific purpose was seen to bounce off a couple of boulders apparently left in the ground by glaziers when they passed through the countryside millions of years ago. Damn Ice Age!
But, as they say, where there's a will there's a way and we'll get the darn thing up. After all, having a large piece of lanf for our canine friends is exactly ther reason we bought the place where we're living. In fact, the real estate guy who showed the place to us mentioned we were his first clients who placed such a high demand for land rather than on the finer points of a house itself.
Ain't that just another way of saying that we love our dogs so much that we were simply looking out for their best interests? And, ain't that the only way to live, fellow dog lovers?
Peace.
