Another Phunny Pharm Visit
Apr 01, 2007 at 05:57 PM
We just returned from our very first overnight stay at the new Presto Dog World HQ, a.k.a. The Phunny Pharm. The place needs the usual updates homeowners such as ourselves might want to consider when preparing to move into a new home: scrubbing, spackling, sanding, painting, etc. And at the end of the day we had actually completed one room...the breakfast nook!

Well, just about finished! We painted the room's walls and ceiling but a little closer inspection actually reveals we still need to hang new blinds, install a new floor, put up some drapes and buy table & chairs to before we can really say the room's finished. This doesn't even consider the fact that none of the "personal touches" we might want to effect (knick-knacks, pictures, etc.) have been placed around the room either. But, once again, the painted portion looks pretty good!

But, let me mention how the Presto Dog pack (i.e., our three Shetland Sheepdopgs and a Collie) reacted to the environs soon to be their new home. We arrived late Saturday afternoon and pulled into our garage by way of the automatc garage door opener! We then simply unloaded the dogs, opened the entry door into the house & in they ran! After about seventeen trips apiece between the bride and myself, we finally managed to unload the van of all the stuff we brought along.

Care to see a brief list of what our dogs experienced over the weekend?

Late Saturday afternoon/early evening, the dogs were walking around the house, quite comfortable and glancing out the windows that are conveniently at a height that's agreeable to them. Suddenly, we heard a commotion in the breakfast nook! Running over the to see why they were all barking, we saw that a bunch of chickens had sauntered over to our house and were pecking around for some food. We calmed the dogs down down, assuring them that no great catastrophe would befall them just because another life form occupied the same zip code as themselves.

When the sun yawned, got sleepy and went to bed, the moon dutifully took its place in the heavens. The dogs were still keeping a vigilant watch over their new property, but seemed to miss the small herd of deer that were grazing in their backyard, faintly illuminated by the high-powered utility lights were had just purchased and set up out in the yard to catch their activities.

Next moring, we walked the dogs outside because we haven't yet fenced in the property, and Lily got into an angry shouting match with a cow that lives on the farm next door to us! Then, about two hours later, while the pack was patrolling from window to window, they were confronted with a flock of about twenty wild turkeys that were foraging for food in the back yard. Our four pups simply did not appreciate these trespassers!

We have a feeling that all of us are going to like living in our new home.
