As is the case with most dogs, Dougie, the Presto Dog tri-color Collie, occasionally gets carsick. Luckily, it's usually on our longer rides that he decides to revisit his breakfast or lunch, so the shorter jaunts we make when he's present with us in the car usually spares us his inclinations toward this endeavor.
We "localize" Dougie's efforts at re-acquainting himself with his meals by placing him in a crate whenever we travel. This is true, BTW, for all of our dogs. It's safer, easier and in the case of good ol' Dougie, a much neater (and less odiferous) experience for all involved.
But, even on shorter trips we sometimes make, Dougie manages to drool - profusely, if I may add. The bedding in his crate is usually real wet from his nervousness, as are his front paws. This generally isn't a problem unless it's cold outside as it's been for the past few days.
See, when my bride took all the dogs out in the van yesterday, it was about 15 degrees. Dougie had been doing his drool trick all over his paws and when the bride went to put him back into the vehicle, she noticed that the drool had actually frozen on the long hair on the back of his front paws, making it look as if she had used a gel on him or that he was sporting a Mohawk for that part of his body! We felt so bad for the big guy but he just took it all in stride, being the happy-go-lucky guy that he is.
Here's Dougie, without his front-paw Mohawk look:
 Dougie the Drooler
After yesterday's escapade, the title underneath his picture above is so aptly named!
