Our den consists of three Shetland Sheepdogs and a Collie. The latter's name is Douglas, a.k.a. Dougie: Doug on Pause Table
This guy is a friend to all, always smiling. About the worst thing he does is to push the other dogs out of the way in order to get attention. Oh, that and tracking mud and whatever in from the yard on his huge mop feet. I call them mop feet because in comparison with the small, dainty feet our Shelties have his appear to be, well, mops.Anyway, when I want to take all the dogs out together to go romp in our back yard, I need to herd them all through the kitchen and into a little hallway where I put on my coat and shoes. It's at this moment when Dougie uses his huge tree trunk legs (to which his huge mop feet are attached) to club the other dogs, usually Lyric: Lyric the Sheltie
This action consists of Dougie looking at the dog while it's standing in the hallway ready to go out and then suddenly smacking the smaller dog on its back with one of his front feet in an effort to entice the dog to play with him.Such advances are met, over and over, with bared teeth from the smaller Shelties, but Dougie thinks it's all part of the game of playing. He's may be a giant oaf, but he's most certainly a happy one.
