Dougie, a.k.a. Gunga Din
Years ago, around 1930 or so, there was a movie called Gunda Din. The flick starred Cary Grant, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Walter McLaughlin & Sam Jaffy as Din. It concerned itself with:

  • the British occupation of India
  • an evil war lord who wanted to ambush troops, and
  • Gunga Din, a young lad who served water to the Brits who eventually saved the troops
Then there's Dougie, our black & tan Collie. Allusions to him being our very own water boy concern themselves with the fact that when he's done taking a drink from his water bowl, he slobbers all over the place so profusely that one would think he was a purvevor of aquifiers.

Karate Dog
Look around this web site. Can you tell I love dogs...all things dogs? My interests include movies such as "Lassie," "Air Bud," "Big Red" etc. as these flicks have stood the test of time & captured our collective fancies. (BTW, does anyone out there know how or where I can get my hand on a copy of the Disney film "The Little Shetland Sheepdog of Catalina Island?") Up until a night or two ago, I couldn't think of too many silver screen efforts that I didn't like. That was until the show "Karate Dog" aired on T.V.

Although I didn't actually watch the show itself, the coming attractions featured a dog having a go-around with John Voigt (winner of an academy award, no less!). Sure, the flick might have had some merit, it might even have espoused some socially redeeming platitudes...but I bet not.

Are there really no jobs out there for John Voigt, or is he merely diversifying himself so that his talent can now be viewed by a much wider audience? Keep in mind this so called "wider-ranging audience" might include arm dragging troglodytes who are perceptually challenged with mere room-temperature IQs.

Agility Equipment Blow Out Comin' Soon
If you're a faithful reader or merely an occasional scanner of some of the stuff I post here at Presto Dog, you might also be interested in the sport of agility. We're gonna offer some deep discounts off our regular prices to all of you...but only for a limited time.

For those uninitiated to this activity, it's where you see a dog and usually its owner speeding over a course of jumps, weave poles and assorted other obstacles, trying to do so in the fastest possible time. If you want to read  a brief guide I wrote for eBay, touted as "the world's on-line market place," click here.

If you've been here before, you're probably aware that we're not done yet in the design, pricing, and picture postings of all our fine products. Here's a prior post explaining why it's takin' a little longer than anticipated. And, here's a direct link to the products we're advertising so far.

Here's how you can get those deep discounts on Presto Dog products mentioned previously...

Yet Another Dog Show-Thank Goodness!
Well, it's a holiday weekend (Memorial Day), the weather outside is absolutely gorgeous, and we've just return from...you might have guessed it, based on the name of this humble web site, another dog show.

But, that's what we do.  Some folks like to go to a major metropolitan center, perhaps even NYC, spend the day there, maybe take in a Broadway show. Others might prefer goin' to a ball game, possibly to see the Mets (yay!) or the Yankess (boo!) take on an opposing team, enjoy a hot dog or two, and hopefully get their hands on a foul ball. As my initial statement of this paragraph attests, We prefer to spend our time at dog shows.

And why, you may ask, do we go to what others might construe as a boring event, watching a bunch of dogs romp around & strutting their stuff? The French (we have absolutley no affinity toward that country, believe me, especially on this Memorial Day weekend) have a saying-raison d'etre, translated as "reason for being." And that's why we go to dog shows...they're our reason for being.

Can you relate? Then...
