This evening (4/9/08) at 8:00 p.m., there's a meeting of Sheltie lovers at Bones Grille in Lansdale, PA. Directions? Click here to see how to get to Bones Grille.

We start gathering around 7:00 pm.m or so. Conversation is pleasant, non-formal, and, you guessed it, generally around the subject of dogs.

Hope to see ya!

Fun in the Yard
Had some car trouble this morning & had to take off from work. While waiting for the neessary repairs to be performed on the vehicle, we took the Presto Dog canines out in the Phunny Pharm pasture land, had some fun and took pictures of our pack at play.

Here's a straight-on shot of li'l Maggie, our Sheltie show dog:

Lyric, our senior Sheltie at nine years of age, smiles mischieviously as she tries to hide under a folding chair:

Another picture of Maggie. in this one, she's waiting for me to kick the ball that's in front of her so she can chase it, bring it back to me & get me to kick it again...and again...and again:

(BTW, that's a set of halogen lights between the two dogs that we sometimes use to illuminate the area when it's dark out.)

Here's Dougie trudging up the hill after chasing a bird1 that happened to fly overhead:

1 Birds at the Presto Dog Phunny Pharm are called "air space violators." Once we announce their presence Dougie scans the sky in an attempt to spot them. If he sees 'em, he'll give chase. Our mantra when he does this is: "Watch the skies...keep watching tthe skies." Anyone remember the movie that line came from? Hint: James Arness who would later portray lawman Matt Dillon in Gunsmoke fame starred in it.

Dog Pictures
I just added a whole bunch of pictures to the Presto Dog web site! You can see them by clicking here. When you arrive at the picture gallery, you can work your way through them by clicking on the <<Previous or Next>> tabs found under each shot. Or if you prefer, you can simply click on any of the Page numbers that run down the right-hand side of the page.

You can also see 'em at any time by going to the left-hand side of any page and clicking on the "Dog Pictures" link.

Enjoy, and be sure to come back again real soon!

Berks County Kennel Club Dog Show
The formula goes something like this:

  • enroll dog in show, either on-line or via snail mail
  • prepare dog for judge's inspection
  • wait outside ring until your dog's assigned number is called
  • enter ring with dog
  • let dog go through its paces in the ring
  • cross your fingers
  • wait for judge's decision

We entertained this experience on Sunday, 4/6/08 'cause we had entered our li'l Sheltie, Maggie, in the Berks County Kennel Club dog show. She did fine by taking first in her class.

But rather than perform an exercise in hyperbole, here instead are some pictures of the event:

The day's events would not have been complete without an appearance by Miss Kay. Notice her rapt attention as she patiently waits for the judge in the background to come toward her & perform her mandatory inspection.

Up above is a picture of the soft, plush toys that were awarded to some of the dogs winning their respective classes. As noted previously, Maggie won her class but for some unknown reason didn't get one of these...things. But after a close inspection of the item in question, we're actualy happy that she didn't. What the heck were they, anyway? What would we tell our friends Maggie won for her efforts? Strange, but these things had no trouble standing up nice 'n straight on the table.

Hmmmm. Use your imagination, folks.
