This weekend, we'll be traveling to a couple of dog shows held at East Freehold Park in Freehold, NJ. Our entrant in these extravaganzas will be, of course, our li'l Shetland Sheepdog, Maggie:
 Maggie at Attention
She's coming into her own and has no fear or trepidation about getting groomed, waiting for her turn in the ring or any other aspect of the show world, as far as we can tell.
As always, I'll be snapping away with my camera, taking pictures of dogs, vendors and whatever else touches my fancy. So if you want to see some cute shots, stop back later this evening! |

Maggie went with us to the Macungie, PA dog show today. Boy, the weather was pretty bad! As I'm writing this, billowing white clouds are lazily making their way across a blue sky. However, just a few hours ago, while we were in the ring at the dog show, a steady, drenching rain greeted each dog and handler as they tried to show off their best stuff.
It was rain, rain, everywhere, and the dogs were dripping wet as each judge tried to decide who was best.
Here's a picture of our Maggie after she jumped into my chair to get off the wet ground:

Dinah got a few raindrops on her coat, also. Check her out: Dinah Wet
But, at the end of the day, Maggie had a nice second place ribbon and Dinah had accumulated first place in the open class, first place in breed, first place in breed and fourth place overall in the entire show. Here's pretty Dinah shaking off some rain during one of her numerous trips into the ring: Dinah Shakes All in all, not bad for an outing in the rain, eh?

We'll be loading our van & heading to the Macungie, PA dog show tomorrow. Lil'l Maggie is entered (of course!) and we're hoping for the best. None of that puppy or novice class; she in the "open" category now meaning that she goes in the ring against the heavy hitters. Here's a picture our show dog (and I know it's not a flattering one, BTW!):
 Maggie Stares
But, we're not that concerned. It's a fun way for us to spend the day, hanging around & discoursing with other dog people. Who knows, there might even be one or two food vendors that pique my interest, forcing me to taste their delicious treats. Or, maybe we'll come across a vendor that sells chewies, toys or some kind of paraphenalia that will interest our pack?
All in all, I'm certain it'll be a fun-filled day that might even give Maggie a ribbon or two indicating that she won her class (or more) that we can add to her ever growing collection.
Stop back again tomorrow since I'll be taking pictures of our show. |

Chester Valley Kennel Club Dog Show |
|
On Saturday, 5/10/08, li'l Maggie went to the Chester Valley Kennel Club Dog Show. Results? First placed in her class! Other than that we didn't fare too well, but as they say in this business, there's always another day/show.
We took some pictures at the show (of course) for your viewing pleasure...
Here's a gaggle of Shelties, milling about just before they got ready to enter the show ring:

Besides seeing cows grazing in the fields, ducks swimming in quiet ponds and verdant fields all from the comfort of our van, we also came upon this strange sight: Nuclear Power Can anybody guess what the heck those twin cooling towers are harboring beneath the entrails of steam waifting so elegantly toward the azure blue sky?
