What We Saw at the Trenton Dog Show |

On Sunday, 5/7/06, we packed our three Shetland Sheepdogs (Lily, Lyric and Declan), our tri-colored Collie (Douglas) and an assortment of food stuffs, picnic parephenalia and amentities we'd never be able to use on a mere six-hour trip into our trusty GMC Safari van and treked off to Trenton, NJ to visit one of the largest dog shows in the USA.
Was it worth the price of admission? You betcha!

This particular event is classified as one of the biggest (if not the biggest) dog shows on the East Coast (if not in the whole country)...

Not sure if you're familiar with the crazy quirks Shelties are known to have, but they can sure drive you crazy!
For one reason or another, a normal activity you might perform is processed in the brain of a Shetland Sheepdog as an opportunity to start barking, spinning rapidly in circles and all in all creating a veritable cacaphony of sounds that makes one desire to close all the windows in the house so that the neighbors don't start complaining!
Here are merely a few of the weird behaviors our three Shelties (Lily, Lyric and Declan) have been known to show during the course of a day... |

Our one-year old tri-colored Collie, Douglas, loves toys. Specifically, he loves stuffed dolls like this one we purchase for him. This particular one squeaks when squeezed in two separate areas...he loves it! He'll walk around the house with his doll du jour in his mouth, gumming it, playing with it, just having a great old time with his plaything.
His real pleasure, however, is when he can rummage at leisure through the wooden box where we store balls, stuffed dolls, chewies, etc. for our three Shelties... |
