Shelties: Sibling Rivalry |
On Sunday, 12/03/06, we were out in the yard. I took a break from hanging up Christmas lights, assembling Santa's sled & positioning other holiday decorations to play with the dogs. As I've mentioned before, one of the favorite activities is for me to kick a ball & the pack runs after it. Sometimes they bring it back, sometimes not.In the picture below, Lily's on the left taking issue with the fact that Deckie, our alpha dog, is guarding the ball of choice for the moment. Check out Lily baring her teeth at her brother Sheltie. And, all this is going immediately next to Santa's white sled. I sure hope he wasn't watching such an evil-faced dog: Shelties with an Attitude
Funny thing about this is that it's usually Deckie who's the one who takes issue with the other dogs. Lily's the calm complacent one. Or, at least she was the calm one! I'm just sorry the picture isn't a little clearer for your viewing pleasure. |

Three Little Shelties in the Snow |
I was reviewing some of the digital photos I have and came across this nice shot of our three Shelties: Lily, Lyric and Declan. It seems so appropriate with the holiday season fast approaching, doesn't it? Three Little Shelties in the Snow
If I recall correctly, Dougie, our tri-color Collie, was off chasing snowflakes & trying to catch one before it hit the ground. |

Our dogs have a number of toys. Some are for inside; some are for outdoors only. The latter gravitate and are relegated to the outdoor environment basically because they...well, get real dirty. Now, the blue ball you see in the picture below is not dirty; rather, it was given to Lily 'cause she can carry it in her mouth. An added asset to this ball is the fact that it has a slit in it and she can grab it more easily. As a matter of fact, there are times when she grabs it in her mouth and the slit winds up on her nose, making her appear as if she has a big, blue clown nose. Sort of like Bozo the Clown (for those of you who remember that character) except in a delicate blue motif instead of outrageous red.I almost had a shot of this funny situation but Dougie, our Collie, grabbed it and ran off quite literally before I could snap the picture. Anyway, check out Lily and her blue bally...it's on the ground by her left front paw: Lily and the Blue Ball

Yesterday (12/2/06), we were outside playing. This consists of chasing sticks I throw or kicking a slightly deflated ball that the pack members can grasp & bring back to me for further activity. For some reason, Lily the Sheltie & Dougie, our tri-color Collie, halted their respective activities to look to the left at someting that piqued their interest. Here's what I caught in the eye of the camera: Lily & Dougie Look Left
If you look on the ground in frony of the dogfs you'll see their toys du jour: Lily's big ball and Dougie's tree stump. |
