Declan, the Little King
Why is litle Declan called "the Little King?" This Sheltie, although the smallest mature one that we own, rules the pack; he bosses all the other dogs, including our full grown Collie named Dougie, as if he was, well, the King.

This evening, I invited Declan (a.k.a. Deckie) into the living room and snapped away with my digital camera. Here are the results our abbreviated photo session:

After the shot above, Deckie decided to look toward his right-hand (er, paw) side:

Finally, Deckie posed in profile for the camera:

He's the alpha dog of the Presto Dog pack, in no uncertain terms letting the other four dogs know that when he's around, they better tow the mark.

Presto Dog Back Yard
Well, the job of fencing in the Presto Dog back yard with a post 'n rail fence isn't done yet, but here's a picture of progress as of 8/6/07:

The fence along the left- and right-hand sides of the picture are kinda difficult to make out, but based on the sweat & labor I've exerted to to construct same, rest assured it's there.

As stated previously, we can't wait 'til the darn project's finally finished so that Shelties Lyric, Lily, Declan, Maggie & Collie Dougie will be allowed to run free!

Dougie
Our two year old tri-color Collie, Dougie, is a god guy. He's friendly with everbody & always wants to play with our other dogs.

Here's a picture of Dougie smiling for the camera:

One of the things he does is bring his balls, dolls and other playthings over to us as we're sitting in our chairs reading, watching the tube or whatever. He usually drops them in our lap and backs up a few steps, his message quite clear: come on, play with me! He'll also nudge his long snout into the side of the chair we may be sitting in and deposit his plaything there, in the hopes of simply keeping it away from Maggie, his five month old Sheltie play pal.

Update: 100' of Presto Dog Fencing Goes Up in Today's Heat!
The post immediately below this one talks about the heat we're experiencing here on the East coast. Sure, it is hot, by my mission, my goal is to get our place fenced in so that we can let our dogs run free. That's what they were used to back in the home we just moved from; only difference is, back there they had the proverbial postage stamp sized yard to run around in. Here at the new world headquarters of Presto Dog, they'll have quite a larger area to get their exercize, play and cause mischief.

Today, I assembled around 100' of fencing  (that's a total of 720' I've done & I'm just about half way finished...sheesh!). Last week while working on this massive project I had to leave one of the corners un-done 'cause when the auger man tried to dig it, he encountered a huge rock that even his heavy duty equipment couldn't budge.
